September Athlete of the Month - Lizette Reyes

Published September 3, 2019

My name is Lizette Reyes, some of you may know me as Jason’s wife, a title I’m definitely proud of. I am 30 years old and I am an artificial turf consultant for SYNScapes of Southern California . On my free time, I really enjoy spending time outdoors with the family. I started at Oceanside CrossFit exactly five weeks after having my daughter Emily, almost a year and a half ago.
Once the doc gave me the OK, I was there! I did some CrossFit before but was never able to become consistent with it. Other than that, I didn’t have much of an athletic background aside from the one year I played field hockey and another year I swam, way back in high school. When I first joined the gym, I couldn’t even do a push up on my knees. I had to do them against the wall and I was ok with that! I honestly just told myself to just keep going. Just show up. I was glad I was able to use the “I just had a baby” excuse at the time! Haha!
Some accomplishments I’ve been proud of are finally lifting more than 200lbs, using a 25lbs dumbbell during a workout, and just being able to finish a couple of those workouts before the time cap. My favorite part of our gym is the people. The coaches are rad and the members are just so great. Going through the same pain together definitely unites us!
Some short term goals are pull ups, box jumps and rope climbs. Long term goals include double unders and RXing some work outs. I know that if I keep going and putting in the effort that I have been, maybe adding in those accessories more often, I’ll be able to accomplish these goals.
